Dutch Department of Public Works (RWS)

The folding standby flood defence has been tested according to the hydraulic engineering directives of the Dutch government, including those stated in the Guidelines for Engineering Constructions of the Department of Public Works (RWS). On the basis of hydraulic engineering analyses it has been established that the Dutchdam fulfils all the set criteria. A comment was made during the test to the effect that the Dutchdam has some important advantages over and above all other removable flood defences.

The Dutchdam-Delta is under development and will be tested once it has been completed in the middle of 2003.

Its up-to-date hydraulic engineering features mean that the Dutchdam is an additional interesting tool for that sector of the industry.
When it comes to the management and reorganisation of the water line, safety and cost saving have been the most important aspects of the development of Dutchdam.

In the RWS Yearbook 2003, there is the following report:

The Dutchdam: tomorrow's future

The Dutchdam is a folding aluminium flood defence developed by the market for preventing flooding and inundation. A full-size demonstration model is already available. A splendid opportunity has arisen for finding a specific application for it in the Maaswerken. In the specifications for this product attention had to be given to the question of movable flood defences. The principle of the Dutchdam was put to the test and was seen to offer potential according to those specifications. This product, developed by the market and further supported by the RWS, can result in a profit for both parties.
